AKİF KÜÇÜKBAY

His last achievement is Orkide Elementary School...

He was born at Kırkağaç (Manisa) district established at the centre of the big gardens consisting of olive trees.

His childhood past under the shadows of the olive trees. He learned reading at the school which he attended to, and he learned earning by working from his father and grandfather.
He entered to the business life by being stallholder with his grandfather at his elementary school years. He learned about people and life while he was contributing to family budget by selling the products which they collected from their fields at the district’s bazaar. While he was feeling the happiness of earning by working, his self-confidence improved by his gainings.

The childhood and youth of Akif Küçükbay past by working. He got experiences from his family and the business life.
Akif Küçükbay who believes in the society who lived in, and the necessity of being beneficial for the country started to the wholesale food trading at Kırkağaç at 1970s. He stuck to his business with the consciousness of more working and earning. At his store where he realized the wholesale food trading, he learned the ways of earning, and serving to his country and the people.

He worked honestly, and he earned honestly. And he became happy as he saw the rewards of his working. And this happiness made him to work more. Working, successing, and being beneficial for the people around him became his world view. And he improved his business more. Year after year, his working increased. And one day, Kırkağaç district could not make him satisfied. He had to work more.
He moved to İzmir at 1978 together with his sons who were grown up. He started to detergent and soap production at the factory which he bought in Bornova, İzmir. Akif Küçükbay who thinks the future of Turkey whose population is increasing, whose economy is improving, and whose necessities are becoming various; started to oil production at his factory where he performed the detergent and soap production.

Turkey met a new oil by means of Akif Küçükbay together with his sons. The name of this new oil which joined to Turkish kitchen with its taste and quality was Orkide. Orkide Oils which entered into Turkish kitchen with the elegance of a flower were liked in a very short time, and in the course of time, it reached to top level as one of the most important cooking oil of Turkey. Orkide oils did not make any concession in quality while developing.

Akif Küçükbay and his sons who prioritise the honesty, trust, and health; expanded their company by benefiting from the developing technology.  
Küçükbay A.Ş. which reached to order no of 179 in the list among the biggest 500 industrial institutions in Turkey; expanded to foreign countries as well as the domestic market.
The trademark of Orkide which was liked by Turkish people also increased to top level in export. Orkide which increased to top level both in domestic and foreign market always prioritised the quality for better product.
The most important thing for Akif Küçükbay who was the signatory of a continuously developing institution together with his sons was the equity capital.
He was always telling that: “Never borrow, always buy for cash, and sell for cash”. And he was advising to his sons like that: “Never leave off the honesty. The people which you work together must always trust on you”.

Akif Küçükbay has the warmth, truthfulness, cooperativeness, and trustworthiness of an Anatolian people.
While in the factory which he established there was a job for hundreds of people which he employed, even he didn’t forget the poor people.
He loves the education and working very much. He was helping to educational services in order to educate the youths which are the future of the country better.

The last achievement of Akif Küçükbay who died on May 2004 was the Orkide Elementary School.
At this school which was established by the efforts of deceased Akif Küçükbay who was an education lover, hard-working and beneficent person, a well-educated young generation who will constitute the future Turkey is growing up.

We believe that Akif Küçükbay at the place where he lies on could hear of the children sounds rising from the classrooms of Orkide Elementary School.

Now the heads of Küçükbay A.Ş. which became the most important institutions of our country by the big efforts of Akif Küçükbay are his sons Ahmet Küçükbay and Halil Küçükbay.

They are carrying on their activities and works confidently by collecting together the experience and work ethic which they gained from their family with the modern education which they had.
